Discussion:
Task Scheduler greyed out

Having noticed that some of the automated tasks I had scheduled were not
running, I opened Services.msc and looked at Task Scheduler which hadn't
started.

Selecting properties showed all options greyed out. I can't select
Automatic, Manual, Disabled or anything. The contents of all other tabs
are also greyed out.

All dependencies are running.

I've Googled this problem and only been able to find one similar
problem. The answer given is to download and merge a file into the
registry (it didn't work) or use a command line prompt (sc
configTaskSchedulerstart= auto) (it didn't work either)

Anyone got any bright ideas on this? Any, and all help will be
gratefully acknowledged.

What's the current "Startup Type" for Scheduler service? Is it set to
"Disabled"

See if applying the fix scheduler.reg helps.:

Thanks again. I tried the .reg file suggested but with limited
success. It didn't cure the problem but, opening it in Notepad showed
me where the registry entry was. I then opened Regedit and manually
changed the startup value to give me Automatic start. So, while task
scheduler is now running on bootup, all the other options and tabs are
still greyed out.

I have to admit to being baffled by this.
